Retail Merchant Celebrates Milestone Anniversary on Broadway!
For immediate release - June 27th, 2008
Orangeville, Ontario
Surrounded by family, friends, colleagues, suppliers and customers, Sigrid Wolm, proprietor of From the Kitchen to the Table, in downtown Orangeville, Ontario, hosted a gala celebration to celebrate her 10th anniversary on Broadway (Orangeville, that is!).
And what a celebration it was, with over 100 guests attending the celebration, including long-time friend and mentor Marianne Svarke, proprietor of “To Set a Table”, Beth Shackleford and Margaret Alsemgeest from Browne & Co., Craig Hamilton (Trudeau Corp), Gail Hough (Danesco), Jay Nelson (Cuisinart & Waring), Claude Casaert (Krups), Karin Sweatman (Danica), Genie Berger (Denby), Charles Banfield (Millcroft Inn & Spa) and Geoff Chandler (Downtown Orangeville BIA). Also on hand to share in the festivities, were past and present employees, all of who helped shape the business into the success it is today!
Executive Chef Roberto Fracchione and his team from the award-winning Millcroft Inn & Spa provided fabulous food throughout the evening. For the past three years, From the Kitchen to the Table has partnered with Fracchione at his monthly Millcroft Inn & Spa Culinary Class series; so to have Chef Roberto at this event seemed an ideal opportunity to showcase their friendship, as well as this unique relationship and partnership.
Guests were entertained throughout the evening by the musical blues and jazz stylings of David Bailey and his band “One Bald Tire”. Many in the industry will recognize David as a sales representative from Swissmar, and were surprised to see him in a completely different element!
Long-time customers of From the Kitchen to the Table also shared in this special evening, and Ms. Wolm was particularly honoured to have her oldest customer, 93-year old Edith C. and Cathy J., her very first customer, join in the celebration! Like so many of her customers, they continue to be loyal supporters of her business, and have become so much more than customers: they have also become good friends!
Sigrid Wolm took advantage of this special evening to thank those who have supported her business over the past ten years. She credits much of her success to their continued support, friendship and loyalty. She also took the opportunity to recognize the product suppliers who were on hand for the evening – many whose product lines she has carried since she first opened her doors for business back in 1998!
From the Kitchen to the Table is a proudly independent retail store offering practical, unusual and hard-to-find kitchenware, cookware and dinnerware products, in the heart of historic downtown Orangeville.
Ms. Wolm remains steadfast in ensuring that the store remains true to what it is -- a kitchen store; and making sure that its product mix fulfills the needs of her customers. And what keeps her inspired each and every day is the joy she has meeting and connecting with her customers on a daily basis.
This gala celebration on Broadway was Ms. Wolm’s way of thanking everyone who has shared in the success of From the Kitchen to the Table for the past ten years.
As one guest was overheard saying in the store’s Culinary Presentation Centre during the celebration, “this is fantastic…this is everything a kitchen store should be!”
And indeed, it is what From the Kitchen to the Table has strived to be for the past ten years. Quality product, great customers, and a place where you can get everything you need for home culinary and entertainment needs! Thank you for ten great years!

New web site featuring unique entertaining, culinary & kitchen tips launched just in time for the holiday season
For immediate release — 16 December 2005
Just in time for the holiday season, a new web site (www.kitchentotable.com) has been launched featuring handy entertaining tips, terrific recipes, and the latest trends and products from the culinary world.
Based on recurring questions from customers and colleagues, local retailer Sigrid Wolm, owner of From the Kitchen to the Table in downtown Orangeville, realized that consumers are extremely interested in the latest culinary products and trends. What she also realized is that while much of this industry knowledge was second nature to her, consumers were often unable to find clear answers to their questions, and were often confused about the best culinary and tableware products for home use.
Clearly there is an increased awareness nowadays in regards to food preparation techniques and trends, as is evidenced by the popularity of such specialty television stations as the Food Network. While regular customers to the store could take advantage of the expertise available from Sigrid and her staff, Ms. Wolm felt there was a need to provide this information to consumers on an on-going basis. Her web site, www.kitchentotable.com provides a wealth of information on everything from the newest products in the marketplace, to tips on entertaining, the best ways to set a table, as well as some favourite recipes for consumers to try at home. The store also invites experts in the industry (including renowned Millcroft Inn Executive Chef Rob Fracchioni) to demonstrate their skills for customers, on an on-going basis, and the web site has a list of all in-store events.
Those visiting www.kitchentotable.com will realize that this web site, and by extension the retail store, From the Kitchen to the Table, are places where customer service and product quality are celebrated. As an avid cook herself, Sigrid realizes how important quality products and tableware are to enhancing the culinary experience. Her goal is to pass some of the knowledge that she has gained over the years on to consumers, so that they too can experience the joy of cooking and entertaining in their own homes.
Consumers who want to receive this information on an on-going basis are encouraged to visit the web site, and sign up for the monthly newsletter, Secrets from Our Kitchen.

Local Retailer Profiled In National Magazine
Sigrid Wolm, Owner of From the Kitchen to the Table Featured - August 2005
From the Kitchen to the Table is a proudly independent retail store offering practical, unusual and hard-to-find kitchenware, cookware and dinnerware products, in the heart of historic downtown Orangeville.
Owner Sigrid Wolm entered the retail marketplace after a successful career in the corporate world. Taking advantage of a “grand opportunity”, and putting her strong sales and entrepreneurial skills front and centre, Sigrid opened her retail store, From the Kitchen to the Table on Broadway, in May 1998. As a keen cook herself, she recognized that there was no place in Orangeville to purchase quality housewares or tabletop products and in February 1998, when a friend called her to tell her there was a vacant store on Broadway, she seized the opportunity to fill the gap. In the seven years Sigrid has run From the Kitchen to the Table, she has never regretted her decision.
According to Lori Smith, Editor, Gifts & Tablewares Magazine, Sigrid's success story was a perfect storyline for her magazine. "When searching for a subject to profile for the magazine, I look for an individual--and by extension a store--that is an example of successful retailing. Sigrid Wolm and From the Kitchen to the Table fulfilled that mandate. Hers is a story that demonstrates what can be accomplished when entrepreneurial smarts and enthusiasm are combined with a passion for a product category and a very real sense of caring for customers and community. I was also attracted by the fact that From the Kitchen to the Table reflects the true heart of retail--the independent store. It's a place where somebody actually knows your name when you stop in to pick something up; a place where customer service and product quality are celebrated."
Being mentioned in a national industry magazine is an honour in itself, but according to Ms. Wolm, being honoured as a feature profile, in a magazine which regularly features the top retailers throughout the country, “…is a proud moment not only for me, but for my store, my staff and my customers…the recognition by your industry peers that your business makes a difference in the retail marketplace is high praise, indeed!”
Ms. Wolm credits the success of her business to focusing on the basics of retailing: remaining steadfast in ensuring that the store remains true to what it is -- a kitchen store; and making sure that its product mix fulfills the needs of her customers. And what keeps her inspired each and every day at her store is the joy she has meeting and connecting with her customers on a daily basis.
